The Social Emotional Learning Framework (SELF)

The Social Emotional Learning Framework (SELF) is a companion resource, providing a systematic profiling system to assess pupils’ individual needs and plan appropriate, holistic responses. It gives the important link between theory and practice by answering the ‘what?’, ‘when’ and ‘with who?’ questions, enabling and guiding early intervention and facilitating support by other services. The SELF is being used in Glasgow to support pupils in making the primary to secondary transition.

Glasgow City Council, which has pioneered these initiatives, has set them within the context of the authority’s staged intervention/ FFI model.
