’Happy, Safe and Achieving their Potential’
This is the report of The National Review of Guidance, published in 2004. It sets out a simple 10-point standard of support for children and young people in Scottish schools, showing the role that schools can play in:
• Ensuring that children learn the skills they need to access help when they require it
• Providing access to information
• Supporting pupils through transitions
• Giving help when pupils need it
The report makes a number of recommendations regarding the development of pupil support, under the following headings:
• The Standard of Personal Support in School
• The Review of Personal Support in School
• Positive Relationships and a Caring School Community
• Core Features of Personal Support in Schools
• The Way Forward for Personal Support in Scottish Schools
• Supporting Pupils - Sharing the Agenda
It is relevant to all school staff and will be of particular interest to teachers with a leading role in pastoral care, pupil support managers, SMTs, SQH learners, initial training and probationer teachers.
