Title: Behaviour Charter

Focus of Practice

To promote a climate of a happy secure learning environment from Nursery through to Primary 7 in maintaining and developing this school ethos consolidation of established practice ie Golden Time-Rules, Circle Time, celebration of success and achievement of a ‘Behaviour Charter’ and class/individual sign on certificate is used.

Short Description

Through pupil council and class recognition and participation in golden rules, circle time, anti bullying guidance and all behaviour and welfare issues the ‘behaviour charter’ is now displayed in each class area. At start of session individual children (would hope all class) are invited to sign on to show they will be endeavouring to uphold all highlighted ‘expectations’ from charter.

Why Was It Successful?

Again it is really reinforcement of established guidelines and practice.

It gives each teacher a fresh starting point at beginning of session with their new children and in turn children take on own responsibility for their own ‘promise’. The charter ha a focal place in class and can be referred to when needed.
