Success Stories III

This publication is produced by the Scottish Parent Teacher Council and contains over one hundred examples of school-based projects designed specifically to improving the quality of learning and teaching.

"The aim (of the publication) is to provide a showcase for innovative and successful projects in Scottish nursery, primary, secondary and special schools. It contains projects from across Scotland, from Golspie in the North to Dumfries and Galloway in the South."

The diverse range of topics includes several projects that have focused on pupil behaviour and student support issues, such as:

• Setting challenges to help specific pupils overcome behavioural difficulties

• Playground and other forms of peer support

• Police officers working with disaffected youngsters on a video project

• Developing integrated pupil support

• Raising self-esteem and improving behaviour amongst excluded teenagers through DJ workshops

• Target setting with a difference

• A range of approaches to bullying behaviour.

Each project is given a one-page descriptive summary and also includes: funding information, dates when the project was run, outcomes and school contact details. Schools are happy to be contacted for further information.

Indexes list the projects by geographical area as well as under headings such as ‘Behaviour’, ‘Pupil Support’ etc.
