Different Class! An Enhanced PSE Programme

This package was designed by North Ayrshire Council in 2004 to help school staff move towards an extended curriculum whilst maintaining good inclusive practice. It was created in partnership with North Ayrshire Council’s schools and the Arran Outdoor Resource and is targeted specifically at young people in S3, S4 and S5. The package provides schools with an extended Personal and Social Education programme. It is designed for use within a number of school based and off site contexts.

The package consists of a range of materials including teacher guidance notes, class materials, assessments and evaluation and evidence sheets (also provided on a CD ROM in PC and Mac file versions) and a DVD of background information and class resources.

The materials and guidelines can be used to serve several purposes, from making available a structure for the planning, implementation and review of one-off Personal and Social Education activities to providing the evidence required by Scottish Qualification Authority for the presentation of pupils at Access 3 level, National Qualifications in Personal and Social Education either as individual units or as a three unit cluster. Elements within the materials attached reflect these requirements for:
• Personal Awareness and Development
• Social Awareness and Development
• Vocational Awareness and Development
